The authors who show up most often on Obama’s summer reading lists’

The 44th president’s new reading list is out, and it features some familiar names.

Barack Obama’s summer book list came out this week, revealing fresh insights about which authors the 44th president turns to again and again for his warm-weather reading.

The tradition began in 2009, Obama’s first summer in the White House, annually prompting bibliophiles to compare notes.

This year’s list, released Wednesday, is 11 books long and includes “Seek Immediate Shelter,” by Vincent Yu, and Ann Patchett’s “Whistler,” which has spent eight weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.

The Washington Post analyzed all of Obama’s summer reading lists to determine which authors have made the most repeat appearances.

At the top were Colson Whitehead and S.A. Cosby, who’ve been on the summer lists three times each. Whitehead appeared this year with “Cool Machine,” the final part of his Harlem Trilogy.

Tayari Jones is making a second appearance on the list. She debuted on Obama’s list with “An American Marriage” in 2018 and is back this year with “Kin.” Read the full story at the Washington Post.
